Inspecting Food Premises

| The Food Team inspects food premises in the borough to ensure that food law requirements are being met. This includes licensing and approval activities, where appropriate.
Unannounced inspections are therefore routinely carried out by officers as part of an annual risk-based inspection programme. The programme gives greater priority to higher risk premises. All inspections are carried out in accordance with the Food Standards Agency Code of Practice (CoP) and other recognised guidance such as that issued by the Local Authorities Co-ordinators of Regulatory Services (LACORS). The inspection frequency is determined in accordance with the national risk rating scheme defined in the CoP. This establishes risk by reference to three factors: - potential hazard - compliance - confidence in management/control systems Minimum inspection frequencies are detailed in the CoP as follows:
In addition, all new food businesses will receive an initial inspection as a matter of priority. Our target is to carry out 100% of inspections within the programme for all risk categories. | |||||||||||||
